During each session, we focus on a key theme, such as work, love, or technology. Through the art of listening, we cultivate wisdom that can be translated into impactful action, with the aim of making conscious choices and shaping your ideal life. We create a space in which you can reflect on the world you currently live in, your ideal world, and the path you need to take to get there.
The conversations are led by philosophers, experts in promoting philosophical insight by applying the Socratic method. This age-old method challenges you to critically examine your own thinking and embrace new thinking from others. You will learn how this method works, how it sharpens your thinking, and how it can enrich your daily life.
By collectively reflecting on experiences, deeper and more genuine connections are formed. In a Socratic Circle, we take the time and create space for profound understanding, enabling authentic connections to emerge. By stepping back and reflecting, new insights can arise that can contribute to changes in your life.
The various programs always consist of one or more Socratic conversations in which you examine and sharpen your own thinking. Sometimes these supplemented with sessions in which we discuss the theme from the perspective of a philosophical theory. The circles take place at inspiring locations throughout Amsterdam.
Each program focuses on a central theme and consists of one to three sessions. During the program, you will come together with the same group of people to deepen your thinking, so that at the end, you walk away with valuable new insights and connections. Below, you can see which themes we will cover in the coming sessions!
In this circle, the focus is on creativity. Collectively, we will reflect on a fundamental question surrounding our theme, such as ‘is creativity uniquely human?’, ‘is creativity innate, or can it be cultivated?’ or ‘what significance does creativity have in human life?’
